Stubborn nuts? The Drosselmeyer Nutcracker is a fantastic Swedish nutcracker that will make short work of nearly any nut. Some nuts feel almost impossible to crack, but they are no match for the Drosselmeyer!

Simply place the nut in the hole, take a firm grip on the device, cover the opening, and press the handle. Then simply empty the contents into your hand. Every nut comes out completely whole and separated from the shell.

The Drosselmeyer makes it clean, easy, and fun to crack open your favourite snack. Use several short, firm bursts of pressure and occasionally rotate the nut inside the cone if necessary. Once there are several cracks in the shell, the kernel can be picked out with ease.

The Drosselmeyer is designed to accommodate nuts of all shapes and sizes. Smaller nuts such as almonds and hazelnuts fall low in the device and are easy to crack with the power of the double lever. Larger nuts such as walnuts and Brazil nuts stay higher in the device, making them easy to handle for multiple cracks as needed.

Storage and care
Over many uses it is possible that shells can get stuck under the cracking component, which can often cause the handle to come loose. This is a conscious design choice made to simplify the care and maintenance of your Drosselmeyer Nutcracker. Simply push the inner clip lightly and then position the handle back into place.

If the handle feels difficult to move, there may be some crumbs hidden in the bottom that are caught around the spring. All parts of the nutcracker are removable, however, so it is easy to take apart and clean. Remove the handle, then press the lower part of the metallic strip on the nutcracker. The metallic piece will loosen at the top; simply pull it backwards to remove it, revealing the inner spring. Blow away any remaining crumbs around the spring, and then simply replace everything in the reverse order.

The Drosselmeyer Nutcracker has won several design awards over the years. These include awards at Formidable Design Formex 2004, Form Frankfurt 2005, and the device was nominated to join the Swedish National Museum’s collection for future antiques. It has also received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award among many other accolades.
